The Science of Getting Rich -

Add to the Life of the World

 

Mr. Wattles points out in "The Science of Getting Rich" that you should add to the life of the world with every business transaction by providing more value than you’re being paid for.  First, you should only sell goods and services that bring more life to the person paying for them.  Also, the principle of advancement states that every person who transacts business with you should receive more value than the thing he gave you in exchange. 

 

You need to be attentive to others and to their needs.  Successful people know that value must be given in order for value to be received in a business transaction or business relationship. The goal is to share your gifts with as many people as possible.  There is a quote by Woodrow Wilson that is a good illustration of this:

 

“You are not here merely to make a living.  You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement.  You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget that errand.” 

 

All men and women are looking for increase, for the continuous advancement of life.  Therefore, whenever you come into contact with anyone, whether it’s in person, by phone, or in writing, you should strive to communicate to them the impression of increase. 

 

In order to become wealthy, you first have to be wealthy.  This doesn’t mean that you have to have money in order to make money; it means that you have to identify yourself as being wealthy even if your bank account doesn’t reflect that wealth at the moment.  Wealth is not what a person has; it’s a state of mind. 

 

Much of the news about Donald Trump in the 1990’s revolved around his financial problems.  However, he never lost the image of himself as a wealthy person, and it was this self-image that helped him achieve his financial resurgence. 

 

Wealth mentality is a mindset; it’s a way of thinking that encourages wealth building thoughts and behaviors.  The people who succeed in life from a financial perspective have positive beliefs about money, wealth and prosperity. 

 

In “Think and Grow Rich” Napoleon Hill says the following: “When you begin to think and grow rich, you will observe that riches begin with a state of mind . . . You, and every other person, ought to be interested in knowing how to acquire that state of mind which will attract riches.”

 

Some of the key elements of having a wealth mentality are the following:

 

  1. People with a wealth mentality have made a decision to be wealthy.

 

  1. People with a wealth mentality know that they deserve to be wealthy.

 

  1. People with a wealth mentality have a strong desire to be wealthy.

 

  1. People with a wealth mentality make building wealth a priority.

 

  1. People with a wealth mentality are determined to be wealthy.

 

  1. People with a wealth mentality are constantly on the look out for wealth building opportunities.  They are constantly looking for problems others have which they can solve.

 

  1. People with a wealth mentality are not afraid of failure; they know that it’s simply part of the process for getting what you want.

 

  1. People with a wealth mentality are not victims; they take responsibility for their lives.

 

  1. People with a wealth mentality don’t live in the past; they learn what they can from their experiences and they move on.
